A note from the publisher...

Thanks for taking a look at Fizzy Meals.
I am a wife, a mother, and a grandmother; and for 40 years I have been planning our week’s eating, making menus and trying new recipes. But five years ago, I began revamping my cooking to incorporate healthier eating habits. This was part of a journey on which I lost over 70 pounds.
We began developing the concept for Fizzy Meals in 2003. It came from this journey and from my family.
- First, fundamentally changing the way I cook was hard. I had many cherished family recipes, and I knew my way around the kitchen. I wasn’t, sure that I wanted to change. But I learned two things from others who were on the same journey. Anyone can make a decent dish if you use enough sugar and butter. And I could either lament the end of old traditions or celebrate the new traditions of healthy eating that I would pass along to my family. After all, it was a new millennium!
- Second, I have recently had the good fortune to help others who are making changes to eat healthier. So often I will hear, “Just tell me what to cook, and I’ll do it.” Our kids, now grown, know that our menus for the week are posted each weekend on the fridge. Even they ask if I can’t just send them the old ones.
- And third, this is not just about healthy eating, it is about joy. The best family times as our children were growing up were when we were cooking and eating together. I looked forward to this shared time. It was a time to joke, laugh, talk together. I hope that in some small way I can play a part in helping others have the same experiences.
If you decide to give Fizzy Meals a try, I will be delighted. But if not, I will still be wishing you healthy and happy dining . . .
